Iggulden does it again

Iggulden does it again

Now here’s an interesting development?! For years I’ve been reading Conn Iggulden’s fantastically epic historical novels. His fascinating War of the Roses trilogy, or the gritty Genghis Khan series. So there I am mooching through the Science Fiction and Fantasy section Waterstones, and what do I stumble across? Two books by C F Iggulden. Darien and Shiang. It seems this crackingly good author has spread his wings and flown into the fantasy genre. After devouring both books within two weeks, I have to say he’s shifted genres pretty well. He’s clearly a talented researcher, and he’s brought the detail of those historical novels into an imaginary world very successfully. In Shiang in particular, the civilisation is reminiscent of a Mongolian or Chinese society, and it makes the fantasy that bit more believable. I could quite happily devour anything Conn Iggulden cares to write, and look forward to his next fantasy offering.
